  1. I imagine my brother has already got with you. We have been in America since the 1700s. Our most prolific ancestor was Alfred Hingerty (The Boatswain). He was married 3 times and had somethinglike 13 kids. The Civil War kind of divided the family, I think. The HIngertys from the north are not in touch with us from the south.Alfred didnt go with the Confederacy, he was stuck up north during the war. H was on medical leave. at Kittery Maine. When the war ended he was able to return to his large farm, 650 acres in Iseel of Wight Co. VA. He was probably the richest guy in town since most of the southerners were like the Post war Germans. POOR. He had a pension. as a retired Naval officer. My brother knows this stuff better than I do. Back in the early 90s using Prodicy I discovered the son of the "artist" Hingerty. No one had internetm they were using Compuserv or AOL or Prodigy. He told me he liked NASCAR racing and I sent him a Tshirt from the company I worked for. (Allied Signal) Im the black sheep.Blue collar guy. Hippie days. Hitchhiking around. Chasing women. My brother was the succesful. (Lawyer) Somebodys got to do it, huh? I am 71 now. I had two children. I lost my daughter in 96. My son is a neer do well in Richmond VA. College Grad, for what thats worth. He is kind of a Roustabout, and a French Chef. He works with band and concerts setting up their complicated stage sets. ANyway we have been surprised that there were Hingertys anywhere else. During WW2 my father got off the plane in Shannon and found a man who knew the name. But my bro sentme this stuff so I magine he has been in touch.
