Irish census 1901 and 1911 There was one other Hingerty family listed in the 1901 and 1911 census- however, you would be forgiven for not finding them at first glance, as they were registered as HARRINGTON. (Daughter Johanna is missing from the 1911 Census- where is she????) Letters from the Prothero Past- Part 1 Guest blog post by Carmel Peek- Marcella Hingerty descendant Great great grand daughter of John Hingerty and Isabella McDonald As we prepare to celebrate our McDonald and Hingerty ancestors, I have had the wonderful opportunity to reread many of the accounts written over the years by a number of our relatives including the great Ethel Kiley (nee Anderson) who has inspired many of us over the years with her reflections of how life was "in the olden days" as she frequently called them in her many letters to relatives and friends across Australia. Did you know that she drew each tree and what was known as butchers paper? These were stuck on her holland blinds throughout her home, and she would pull these down to show visitors  what she could share with them about their

Along with her siblings she moved with her parents to Cootamundra where she learnt hotel keeping and farming. It was in Cootamundra that she met and married John Martin on the 12th June 1881. Soon after their wedding, John and Marcella took up residence at their property on the Junee Road out of Temora, they called Fairfield.  It was here that their first child, Isabella Ann was born 3 September 1883. Her sister Bridget Therese arrived 3 years later on 11 August 1885 followed by Thomas John on 8 July 1888 and Mary Evelyn on 8 May 1891.
