Are all Hingertys related? YES!

My father always said "all Hingertys are related".

To test his assertion, in May 2021 I launched the Hingerty Surname One Name Study.

This study included the use of YDNA testing of living male Hingerty name bearers to prove that they did (or didn't) share a common direct male ancestor.

To date seven Hingerty males have tested, with at least one tester for each of the four existing Hingerty lines
(Australia 3, USA 2, Stafford 1, Ireland 1).

The results for the most recent tester have started to come through including the match lists for the 111 STR Markers.

Green- Australia, Blue- USA, Orange- Stafford

All the seven Hingerty testers are a match to each other at the 111 STR Marker level.

This means that all seven share a common direct male ancestor within genealogical time.

So, we can say with certainty that all Hingerty name bearers alive today share a common ancestor and are therefore related.

My father's assertion has been proven!

Thank you to the "Hingerty Heroes"
DH, JLH, PH, MJH, MH, WH and RH
who tested for us all.

We now await RH's BigY SNP results which will be available in the coming weeks.
These results will assist us to move ever closer to knowing HOW Hingertys are related.

If you are a direct Hingerty male and would like to take a YDNA test to assist our research, please
